K&L Notes

½*V Good entry. Lively black plum fruit. Very spicy. Trey Beffa says: "Bright, ripe and fresh. Tannins are ripe and integrated." And from Steve Greer: "Fragrant nose, spice and cassis, with a long finish."

La Dauphine is proudly putting Fronsac in the forefront of the Right Bank, and in my humble opinion outperforming many a Saint-Émilion. Luscious chocolate, cedar, cigar box, coffee bean and vanilla aromatics entice and charm the lucky wine drinker that opens this bottle. The palate is pure velvety ganache, with plums, cocoa powder and a pleasant earthiness. My choice to make an impression at dinner parties.

This roaring bargain has a toasty, spicy medley of juicy and sweet dark fruit flavors and very approachable tannins. A delicious and easy to drink value from a great vintage.

Great value 2010 that really opens up after decanting one hour. Rich, blueberry aromas and black fruit flavors. Sweetness really comes out in the finish.
    Drink from 2017 to 2027

This is an elegant and powerful right-bank claret. At 90% Merlot, 10% Cab Franc it has great blue and black fruit, some mocha, worn leather and licorice. The tannins, while still displaying the 2010 power, are remarkably approachable. I’d love to revisit in a couple of years.
