K&L Notes

A property very close to Pauillac that is one to watch in the future. Well-made, value-driven wines with good depth and length.

Delighted to see that the 2009 Peyrabon, Haut-Médoc is now back in stock. Bordeaux veterans will recall this Haut-Médoc bargain is happily situated on the border with Pauillac near Château Bernadotte. The strength of the exceptional '09 vintage really shines through here. The wine is remarkably fresh, with textbook blackberry and cassis notes and fine tannins. While it may be difficult to resist drinking this wine immediately, it will only continue to improve over the next 3 to 5 years.

I have continued to be impressed with the Peyrabon and to see the 2009 vintage still at $20 is spectacular. Great balance of dark berry fruit and tobacco spice with a soft tannin structure. Additionally, this is the type of wine that if you like Napa but bemoan the lack of good value or you need great everyday easy drinking Bordeaux this wine works perfectly. I don't believe this round will last longer than the last round so it is worth stocking up on.

This is a full and rich wine with a fine backbone of ripe tannin that lends a sense of proportion and elegance. This property near Pauillac is getting better with each passing vintage.

A completely no-brainer. A wine that can be enjoyed now or be placed in the cellar. Very classic 2009 with its ripeness and lusciousness, and yet framed by more acidity and a perhaps softer tannins than, say... the 2010.

I have yet to find a 2009 Bordeaux I have not liked, and this is no different! Filled with a bountiful amount of blackberry fruit and a lovely tobacco and black pepper spice to round out the back end, this is a great crossover wine. For all of you who want to step beyond your Napa comfort zone, this provides a wonderful complexity, under twenty, that is hard to find in the States.

I'm always happy to see Peyrabon in the store. The 2009 was fantastic, as many other 2009 Bordeaux reds were. Soft blackberry fruit, mellow tannins, minerality, and notes of cedar are all present. Another delightful bottling from this consistent producer.

With a property bordering (sometimes crossing into) the Pauillac region, the 2009 Peyrabon offeres a lot of wine for a small price tag! Straight forward blackberry and casis with a hint of blueberry, great minerality and soft tanin to boot. This wine is the definition of value!

This great value Bordeaux has more than a little of the character and flavor of neighboring Pauillac. It is a dense, cassis laden claret with some pencil lead complexity, rich texture and plenty of power. If you like big wines, you can drink it now, but make sure to save some for later, this is going to be very fine at 10 or 15 years old!

The new vintage of Peyrabon is a ripe, voluptuous Cabernet-based blend from Haut-Medoc, just outside of Pauillac. Deep, dark plums and spiced blackberries lead the way while anise, tobacco, baking spices, and sweet tannins round things out. Although there is aging potential here, this is ready for consumption tonight with marbled steak or duck in a Port-cherry gastrique.

Deeply colored, this ripe, rich, plumy wine shows soft, integrated tannins and near term drinkability. 14.0% ABV
    Drink from 2013 to 2015
