K&L Notes

From the makers of much sought-after Pinot Noir, this Chardonnay was made from grapes sourced from the same cool growing region, within several miles of the winery's production facility. "One Sixteen" is named for Highway 116, which runs through the Green Valley of the Russian River Valley appellation, where vines grow in sandy, Goldridge soil. According to the winery's tasting notes, it's "a Chardonnay and Pinot Noir sweet spot within the Russian River Valley. These sites all have superb micro-climates, offering just the right amount of warmth during the day and very cool nights, which leads to intensely focused wine with generous natural acidity." While their 2010 vintage was comprised of just three vineyard sources, fruit for the 2011 was sourced from El Diablo, Heintz, Searby, Ulises Valdez and the Martinelli family's Charles Ranch and Zio Tony Vineyards.
