Fantastic. Very ripe and rich, with raisin and cured beef character. Full-bodied, with big, velvety tannins and a long, long finish. A massive but impressive red. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah. Best after 2005. 3,250 cases made. *Top 100 Wines of 2002*
Capezzana's tasty Ghiaie della Furba 2000, a barrique-aged blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 10% Syrah, is just beginning to reveal the earliest hints of tertiary notes in its suggestions of tobacco, herbs, earthiness, leather, chocolate and black cherries on a full bodied, structured frame. It offers outstanding length on the palate, fine balance, and a lingering note of sweetness from the oak on the finish. (AG)
