Bright ruby. Ripe cherry and black raspberry aromas are complemented by notes of anise and smoky Indian spices. Broad and concentrated, with more power than the Westside Road Neighbors bottling, offering sweet red and dark berry flavors, a velvety texture and a touch of bitter chocolate. Becomes spicier on the finish, which is firmed by fine-grained tannins. (ST)
The east side of the Russian River is home to some of the winery’s best vineyards, and this wine exhibits the excellent structure, nerve and ripeness of all of their 2011 Pinots. It’s forward but nuanced.
Bright and insistent with a mild note of plummy sweetness to its very vital, nicely ripened aromas and following suit on the palate where it exhibits a fair bit of tactile richness and a good sense of polish, this one delivers plenty of forthright and frontal young Pinot fruit before pulling up ever so slightly short at the finish when compared to the winery's very best bottlings. It is very approachable now but will find added breadth with time. *One Star*
Features a graceful suppleness to the texture amid the snappy dried herb and berry notes. Should become more harmonious with time. Ends with gutsy tannins. Best from 2015 through 2023. (JL, Web Only-2014)
