The 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon jumps from the glass with expressive dark red cherries, plums, mint, licorice and sweet spices. A beautiful, layered Cabernet, the 2011 impresses for its overall balance and sense of harmony. There are no hard edges here. Tor and his winemaker, Jeff Ames, have done a terrific job here. This is a fabulous showing. In 2011, the Cabernet is predominantly sourced from Mast Vineyard (70%), with 22% Cimarossa and 8% To Kalon. (AG)
The 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa appears even stronger than the 2010 ... and that’s saying something. Production was much smaller for this blend of fruit from the Mast Vineyard (70%), Cimarossa (22%) and To Kalon (8%). It exhibits notes of creamy berry fruit, lead pencil shavings and spice box as well as a round, generous, medium-bodied mouthfeel with supple tannins and low acidity. Drink it over the next decade.
Bright red-ruby. Expressive, nicely ripe nose melds raspberry, plum, chocolate, coffee and licorice. Sweet, ripe and easygoing, offering pliant cherry, raspberry and licorice flavors accented but not blighted by pepper and herb notes. The team did a strict selection to make this wine, which is ultimately 70% from Mast Vineyard fruit. (ST)
