Full red. Wild, carnal aromas of red fruits, truffle, licorice, toffee and smoke. Sweet, lush and smooth, but with an edge of acidity firming the red berry, smoke, truffle, earth and animal fur flavors. This wine was only racked twice: in June of 2003, and then a second time prior to the bottling in June of 2004.
Attractive aromas of Indian spices, red berries and pressed flowers. Medium- to full-bodied, with fine tannins. It builds on your palate. Very well-made for the vintage. Best after 2007.
A medium-bodied, up-front, pleasant effort, the 2002 offers herbaceous notes intermixed with cherries, licorice, fruitcake, and spice box. With good concentration, soft tannin, and attractive, subtle spicy new oak characteristics, it should be consumed over the next 7-8 years.
