This Tuscan blend opens with inky dark concentration and soft aromas of ripe cherry and chocolate fudge. You can taste the plump, ripe and opulent flavors that will carry this age-worthy wine far into the future. The tannins are smooth and soft. *Cellar Selection*
Mocha, espresso, savory herbs and graphite are all woven together in the 2010 Le Serre Nuove dell'Ornellaia. Tightly wound, vibrant and beautifully delineated, the 2010 isn't as open or approachable young as it usually is. Instead, readers will have to be patient with the 2010. Cool veins of saline minerality support the vibrant finish. Even with all of the tension that is present today, there is also an element of silkiness in the tannin that will emerge more fully over time. (AG) 92+
Very pretty aromas of chocolate, currants and light cream. Full and soft with fine tannins and a delicious finish. Why wait? But will improve with age.
Good full, dark ruby-red. Strawberry, minerals, bitter chocolate and musky herbs on the nose, lifted by a floral topnote. Bright, well-integrated acidity gives shape and verve to the flavors of blackberry, dried spices and violet. Deeper and more intense than the Le Volte, but much less fruity than the Ornellaia. In this vintage you can really tell this is the second wine to Ornellaia. Finishes with serious tannic structure and persistent black fruits. (ID)
Svelte and finely woven, this red delivers cherry, black currant, cedar, tobacco and spice aromas and flavors. Tightly knit, with a long, lingering aftertaste of fruit and spice. Very Bordeaux-like. (BS)
