Denner uses roughly half of the grapes planted to their sustainably farmed estate vineyards in western Paso Robles for their estate wines; the rest of their fruit is eagerly bought up by top producers nearby such as Villa Creek Cellars, Linne Calodo, and Justin Vineyards. "Mother of Exiles" is a Bordeaux style blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Verdot, and Cabernet Franc that sees extended aging in almost entirely new French oak barrique. The resulting wine is dark, rich and extracted, offering ripe black cherry, currant, and fig aromas and flavors, accompanied by cedar and toasty vanilla spice. This is all layered onto a dense full body that finishes with long, chewy tannins and a lingering chocolate note. For grilled or roasted meats and braises.
