Bright red. Raspberry, cherry and allspice on the sexy, highly perfumed nose. Offers an array of red fruit and floral pastille flavors that become deeper with air, The floral quality comes back strong on the finish, which features fine-grained tannins and a lick of peppery spices.
This has a good old-school feel, with tobacco leaf and brick dust notes out front, followed by flavors of raspberry and cherry preserves and a long, iron- and shiso leaf-framed finish. A lovely stony echo lingers. Best from 2014 through 2024. (Web-2013)
The 2010 Chateauneuf du Pape exhibits notes of cedarwood, black cherry jam, loamy soil, soy sauce and blacker fruits in a medium to full-bodied, relatively evolved, complex, precocious style. It is somewhat atypical for the vintage in its delicious, open-knit, forward personality. Enjoy it over the next decade. (RP)
