Dark ruby. Showing a more brooding personality than the Sonoma County bottling, offering aromas and flavors of blackberry and bitter cherry and a hint of candied licorice. Plump and velvety in texture, with strong finishing punch and lingering smokiness. (ST)

Another in the extensive line of very good Pinot Noirs from this brilliant producer of widely admired bottlings, it drifts a bit into the realm of candied cherries with a whiff of raspberry finding its way into the mid-volume aromas. Medium-full-weighted and on the supple side in feel, its flavors come with the slightly frontal, candied edge of the nose and display a fine sense of vitality. It may be lighter than usual, but it has a lot to like, and there are times when pure drinking joy is called for-and this wine will be there to fill that bill.
