The 2012 Zinfandel Duarte emerges from a site in Contra Costa. The field blend includes dollops of Carignane and Mourvedre. Silky, sweet tannins provide the backbone for an attractive range of floral and spice notes. The aromatics here are particularly compelling. (AG)
Dark, bright red. Briary redcurrant and raspberry aromas show a faintly stewed character. Creamy in the mouth and a bit undifferentiated but not overly sweet. Possesses decent acidity and finishes with a fine dusting of tannins but I wanted a bit more personality. (ST)
Both the 2012 Zinfandel Duarte and 2012 Zinfandel Salvador are deep and richly fruity with the Salvador seemingly more intense than the open-knit, loamy, peppery, spicy Duarte. (RP)
