Also spectacular is the 2010 Collide, a blend of 32% Tempranillo, 32% Carignan, 26% Petite Sirah and the rest Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. A top-notch winemaker who also has a very fine palate and is comfortable blending component parts such as this can accomplish something special in California – and at a realistic price. The 2010 Collide is a superb example of blending unique and distinctive grape varietals to create a full-bodied, deep, nicely structured, rich, broad, savory wine with a lot of sucrosity as well as plenty of red, blue and black fruits. Drink this beauty over the next 7-8 years. (RP)
Good full ruby-red. Musky aromas and flavors of black raspberry, woodsmoke and flinty minerals are lifted by a floral element. Silky and fine-grained if a bit youthfully reduced. Boasts good concentration and noteworthy definition and energy and finishes with a fine dusting of tannins. An offbeat blend but nicely harmonious from the outset.
