The 2012 Chateauneuf du Pape Les Hesperides (an even split of Mourvedre and Grenache) is a gorgeous tank sample that has knockout floral, lavender, licorice and cassis notes to go with a rich, medium to full-bodied profile on the palate. As with the base cuvee, it is a soft, supple and surprisingly approachable 2012 to drink on release and over the following 7-8 years. Drink 2014-2022. These superb efforts are made by Eric Bonnet from his estate located in the northeastern sector of Chateauneuf du Pape. (JD)
Dark ruby. Blackberry and cherry-vanilla on the deeply perfumed nose and in the mouth. Smooth and open-knit, with intense black and blue fruit flavors and a hint of candied licorice. Supple tannins give shape to a persistent finish that features sweet vanilla and bitter chocolate.
