K&L Notes

DuMol was established in 1996 by Kerry Murphy and Michael Verlander. Andy Smith joined as winemaker in 2000 and partner in 2005. Most of the grapes are sourced from the Green Valley appellation where DuMOL has a 25-acre Estate Vineyard, with other grape sources originating in the Russian River Valley, Sonoma Coast and Carneros. Since the beginning, DuMol has striven to make well balanced wines. Known for their Pinot Noir and Chardonnays, they also do small amounts of Syrah and Viognier. For much of the winery's existence, the wines have generally been sold direct or to restaurants. With the growth of production, we are finally seeing the wines available to retail. We are lucky enough to get a generous allocation of the wines and hope you enjoy them as much as we do.

Bright red in color, with a blossomed nose that will give life to your nostrils. Great fruit at its core (20% whole cluster fermentation), with elegant tannin roots, just another indicator of this wine's balance.

Elegance, polish, and class, all bottled up and packaged for your drinking pleasure. Dumol always delivers the goods: richness of fruit, purity of fruit, and a juicy and balanced mouthfeel. Always a winner in my book.

Do me a favor. Open your trusty Oxford dictionary, and look up PINOT NOIR. The definition you SHOULD find is the wonder that is DUMOL! Fuller in style, this Russian River bottling is a lesson in structure, combining complex black fruit, mocha, and a smokey quality that will leave your mouth aching for more.

What a wonderfully balanced Pinot Noir. Just re-tasted this wine and it’s exactly as good as I remember. Wonderfully clean and focused, this Pinot delivers big flavor without being a BIG Pinot Noir. It’s delicate and graceful with both sweet and savory flavors and no lack of substance. However, it is not heavy or overly oaked. A fabulous choice for anyone looking for a varietally correct California Pinot.
