Dark ruby. Concentrated aroma of mulberry, blueberry, boysenberry jam and candied plum, with notes of licorice and potpourri; this is positively room-filling. Fat and very sweet, with explosively rich but focused boysenberry and mulberry flavors. This shows superb precision for a wine with such fruit concentration and breadth of flavor. Finishes fresh and juicy, with fully absorbed tannins and a lifting, brightening note of acidity. The mix of opulence and cut here is impressive. (JR)

From Langhorne Creek, the 2004 Shiraz Harry & Edward’s Garden exhibits an explosive perfume of melted road tar, camphor, blackberries, and cassis. It builds incrementally in the mouth, revealing layers of richness, full body, and silky tannin. Drink it over the next 10-12 years. (RP)
On the tart side, balanced with plush tannins around a core of cherry, licorice and smoky herb flavors, lingering impressively on the firm finish. Best from 2008 through 2015.
