Another extraordinary young Barolo with aromas that pop out of the glass. Dark berries, with white truffles and spices. Full body, with ultra-fine tannins and beautiful fruit. Goes on for minutes. Very balanced and refined.
The 2007 Barolo Giachini opens with a beguiling, captivating bouquet redolent of tar, smoke, French oak and wild cherries, all of which come together in the finely-knit voice that is unique to this La Morra vineyard. The Giachini stands out for its exceptional length, finely nuanced fruit and lovely overall balance. Hints of Pinot linger on the close. Anticipated maturity: 2017-2027. (AG)
Good bright, deep red with ruby highlights. Lively aromas of black cherry, menthol, minerals and violet. Sweet, supple and seamless, with lovely inner-mouth freshness and lift for the vintage. Juicy blackberry, redcurrant and mineral flavors carry through to the lively, very persistent finish. I prefer the balance here to that of the 2008. When brothers Renato and Giuliano divided up the Corino estate in 2006, Giuliano retained the Giachini holding. (ST)
