Freshly cut flowers, sweet red berries and mint lift out of the glass in the Chambolle-Musigny Les Feusselottes, a wine that shows the more feminine and nuanced side of 2012. Impeccable in its grace and finesse, the Feusselottes is a model of total elegance
Strong wood all but obliterates the red berry fruit aromas. There is a lilting, even delicate mouth feel to the mineral-driven middle weight flavors that possess good mid-palate density thanks to the mouth coating extract that buffers the moderately firm tannins on the balanced and refined finish. This is a classic Chambolle where my predicated range gives the benefit of the doubt regarding the future integration of the prominent oak.
Good full dark red. Liqueur-like dark cherry and chocolate accented by mint and licorice on the very ripe nose. Then surprisingly tight on the palate, with a medicinal quality and no easy sweetness to the flavors of blueberry, black cherry and mint. Finishes with dusty, slightly drying tannins and a light touch for the year.
