A blend of 100% Syrah, the 2011 OGT, also released only in magnum, offers off-the-hook aromas and flavors of spice box, toast, bramble and meaty notions that are grounded by a ripe core of plum and berry fruit. Full-bodied, voluptuously textured (which is remarkable given the vintage) and with sweet tannin, it is an awesome Syrah that will drink beautifully for 15+ years. Drink 2016-2026. (JD)
The 2011 OGT is a blend of Syrah from Colson Canyon, Thompson and Tierra Alta, all done in neutral oak. It is total Tensley, even if it lacks some of the aromatics of the other wines in the range. Dark cherries, plums, tobacco, herb, spices and incense notes take shape in the glass. It may be that the 2011 needs more time to fully come together, but today it comes across as a bit disjointed. I have seen these wines develop beautifully in bottle, and I hope that will be the case here as well. The blend is 50% Colson Canyon, 25% Thompson and 25% Tierra Alta. Available only in magnum formats.
