Grenache-dominated, the 2009 Levity is a blend of 65% Grenache, 32% Syrah and the balance Viognier. Loaded with red and black fruits, licorice, toast and dried flowers, this beauty is beautifully balanced with a great texture, sweet tannin and notable freshness on the finish. Enjoy it over the coming 7-8 years. Drink now-2021. This was a great lineup by Matthias Pippig. Now making their wines from a newly renovated winery in the town of Santa Barbara, these wines offer loads of fruit, yet have impeccably made profiles. In addition, they also age gracefully. While the bulk of the lineup is red, don’t miss his whites! They’re rich and full-bodied, but unique, awesomely pure and focused. (JD)
Vivid ruby. Pungent, high-pitched dark berry and floral aromas are complicated by notes of black pepper and allspice. Juicy and deeply pitched, offering sweet black and blue fruit flavors that pick up a spicy quality with aeration. Smooth, well-knit tannins give shape to the finish, where the floral and spice notes echo strongly.
Builds complexity, combining ripe, spicy and earth-laced dark berry character with firm, fine-grained tannins that tighten the peppery boysenberry and wild berry flavors. Grenache, Syrah and Viognier.
