Since bottling, the 1990 appears to have put on weight. It is not as rich as the 1991, and by the standards of Gentaz, it is less interesting than his 1982, 1983, 1985, and 1988. However, it is a charming, medium-weight Côte Rôtie with a terrific fragrance, as well as a lovely, fat, luscious personality. (RP)
Firm in texture, with earthy, barnyardy aromas and flavors and enough ripe blackberry and cherry notes to bring it around. A distinctive wine that lovers of old-style Rhônes will especially like.
