***Cellar Selection*** Made in the modern, cult Napa style, this Cab, from a vineyard north of St. Helena, is tremendously rich, soft and oaky. It strikes you with effusive flavors of ripe black currants, chocolate, anise and cedar, but most impressive is the smooth quality of the tannins. Youthfully brash now, it should gather forces and mellow out after 2010 and beyond.
From a 2-acre valley floor vineyard, the 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon Cyrus Ryan offers deep black currant and black cherry fruit intermixed with charcoal, graphite, and spice, supple tannins, an attractive, up-front, fleshy mouthfeel, and none of the rustic hardness that can appear in some 2006 Cabernets. Drink it over the next 10-15 years. (RP)
