Bright ruby-red. Intensely perfumed bouquet of raspberry, cherry, Asian spices and deeper licorice. Sappy and incisive, offering powerful red fruit flavors that take a darker turn in the mid-palate and pick up a note of bitter chocolate. Finishes with excellent clarity and spicy cut, with the cherry note repeating. Very nicely balanced pinot. (ST)
Somewhat more direct than the wine above and a touch higher in sheer power as well, this well-endowed youngster focuses its concentrated aromas on black cherries with a bit of dried spice and a hint of roasted caramel in the background. Full in body, a touch fleshy in feel, sporting an early glimpse of a velvety texture to come with age, this one might seem to invite drinking up now but we would wait a few years.
Combines rich flavors with a delicate, subtle delivery, offering savory wild berry, fresh earth and mineral flavors, with touches of cranberry, red licorice and floral scents. Medium-bodied and most satisfying for its layered finish. Drink now through 2018. 405 cases made. (JL)
The 2009 Pinot Noir Bella Una wafts from the glass with sweet floral notes, French oak, spices and bright red fruit. It possesses lovely juiciness underpinned by lively acidity. Ideally, the wine is best enjoyed over the next 3-4 years. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2016. (AG)
This block selection seems to have been selected on the basis of ripeness. Bright, jammy raspberry, cherry, pomegranate and persimmon fruit flavors explode on the palate, all spiced up with cinnamon and cloves. The finish is almost sweet in new French oak. Now-2014. (SH)
