Very earthy aromas with exotic fruit and leather. Hints of porcini. Full-bodied, with silky tannins and a long, caressing finish. Beautiful tannins. (JS)
Saturated deep red. Reduced aromas of dark plum, mocha, cola and brown spices; a bit muddy. Then sweeter and more delineated on the palate than the Tortoniano, with good ripeness and sound balancing acidity. Still, this is not particularly vibrant or perfumed in the mouth. In fact, this is a bit sullen and closed today, due in part to its reduced quality. Finishes with dusty, slightly drying tannins. (ST)
Like Chiarlo’s 2000 Cerequio, this wine’s aromas are dominated by burnt-match scents. Underlying are some attractive black cherry and tar flavors, nestled in a surprisingly supple, medium-weight mouthfeel. (JC)
