The 2005 Vouvray Demi-Sec Clos du Bourg offers fresh orange, quince, and grapefruit zest on the nose, a fine, bitter-sweet inner-mouth florality, and concentration of quince, honey, toasted almond, and citrus, with strongly chalky, stony mineral underpinnings. A glossy, polished feel accentuates the sense of richness, as does, of course, the wine’s discreet residual sweetness. This is no less refined, elegant or potentially ageworthy than its predecessors, but far more exuberant than the Le Mont demi-sec, incorporating a panoply of citrus, flowers, and pit fruits. (DS)
