The NV Palo Cortado en Rama Cruz Vieja started its life with one year of biological aging under yeasts and then aged oxidatively in topped up barrels. It has a creamy note intermixed with the classical hazelnuts and a touch of caramel. The palate is certainly closer to an Amontillado than an Oloroso, with certain sharpness. I'm impressed. 1,000 bottles were filled in October 2014. (LG)

Nervy in feel, with a streak of bitter almond lending spine while notes of toasted hazelnut, salted caramel and green tea fill in. Offers a tightly coiled finish. Drink now. (JM)
