More approachable and evolved, the 2012 Pinot Noir Duende Gold Coast Vineyard is a terrific effort that has sweet black cherries, currants and strawberry-styled fruits to go with ample spice-box, forest floor and dried flower-like aromas and flavors. Medium to full-bodied, seamless and a little bit slutty, it stays beautifully focused, has a rock-star texture and a clean, classy finish. It’s hard to resist now, and I see no reason to hold off either. (JD)
Dried flowers, mint, sweet red berries and subtle spices meld together in the 2012 Pinot Noir Duende Gold Coast Vineyard, which emerges from 30 year old, own-rooted vines planted with the Martini clone. The sandy soils and generous yields combine to produce a lifted, aromatically expressive Pinot Noir with lovely balance. Drink this feminine, gracious Pinot over the next handful of years. (AG)
