(14.8% alcohol): Saturated bright ruby. Knockout nose combines crushed blackberry, blueberry, gingerbread, fresh nutmeg, chocolate, mocha and menthol. Almost painfully dense and youthfully shut-down today, in a closed stage just three months after its bottling. But this very powerful mountain Cabernet boasts highly concentrated dark berry and spicecake flavors and already hints at superb chocolatey depth. Finishes with very broad, serious, palate-saturating tannins and terrific length. (ST) 94+
The producer sources from both sides of its bi-county property for this lovely concoction, a mouthfilling mix of black pepper, juicy black plum and berry. Intriguing and complex, it's sublimely elegant, with a dusting of chocolate shavings on the long, velvety finish. (VB)
Lots of mint, mineral and currant character on the nose and palate. Full-bodied and very fruity but shows a form and candor that I like. Drink or hold.
Well-built, with a tight core of currant, dark berry, black licorice and cedary oak flavors. A mix of graphite and crushed rock nuances emerges on the finish, where the tannins impart focus and persistence. (JL)
