Tasting Notes

Now a perennial favorite with staff and customers alike at K&L, this is one of our best selling and most raved about rosés every year. Hand-picked from Biodynamically farmed, old Mourvedre vines in a cool coastal sub-region of Stellenbosch, it's a fresh, elegant wine that does a fantastic impression of Bandol (which is also predominantly made from Mourvedre) but at a fraction of the cost! Waterkloof is a stunning property working with very natural, non-interventionist methods, the wines are pure, expressive and precisely balanced. I am excited to work with Waterkloof Estate as a direct import partner and hope you enjoy this year's Circumstance "Cape Coral" Rose...and remember, total production is less than 350 cases! There’s a reason we have trouble keeping this on the shelf! Made biodynamically from old Mourvedre vines planted in a cool coastal climate near Stellenbosch, this rosé gives you the flavor and structure of Bandol (also made from Mourvedre) for a fraction of the cost! Delicate floral aromas, a soft and supple palate and a finish with balanced acidity.

Waterkloof Circumstance Rose has had a cult following here at K&L. Great little alterative to the high price Bandol Rose. It's made from the grape Mourvèdre and has just the same very pale orangey-pink colour, the full body and the dry, food-friendly finish of a Bandol. It is a biodynamic estate to boot. This is a perfect match to all your BBQ events!

A must try for any Bandol rosé fan, this 100% Mourvedre rosé is a winner! Crisp, dry, touch of herbs, mouthwatering minerality, and incredible persistence. We look forward to this rosé every year!

This is one of my all time favorite Rose, and my go to recommendation for many occasions. Made from Mourvedre this Rose has a beautifully juicy and complex midpalate, nevertheless is still bright and clean. A wonderfully mineral tone runs through it and it is complemented by a nice crisp finish. I first discovered this wine in last years vintage and immediately bought a few bottles and I cannot wait for more warm weather to start drinking this wine regularly again.

Bandol meets Stellenbosch! Introduced just two years ago this dark horse of a rosé from South Africa has quickly and improbably become a customer favorite, the first one people ask for every spring. Composed of 100% Mourvedre and reminiscent of the best rosés of Provence. Crisp and dry but with a genuine richness of texture. Terrific value.

Another fantastic bottling of what has become one of our best selling Roses. Pure, balanced, fresh, with silky texture, lovely bright, juicy fruit, dry mineral infused finish. A perfect summer / fall wine that is very versatile with lots of foods. Made from old dry farmed Mourvedre vines, grown Organic / Biodynamically. Fermented only with wild yeast in old wooden foudre. One of my favorite roses from anywhere in the world.

This Mourvedre Rosé’s savory minerality, subtle richness, and lively acidity make it a perfect partner for shellfish and seafood dishes like bouillabaisse and paella. The winery practices minimalist intervention winemaking and 100% biodynamic farming. The logo on the bottle, in fact, is Boreas - the God of wind - in tribute to the powerful south-easterly winds that run through the vineyard keeping the yields low and the vines naturally pest and fungus free. The result is a fresh rosé with great structure and personality, all for a price that belies its quality.
