This is also agreeably fresh and bright with ripe but cool aromas of crushed plum and warm earth. There is excellent verve to the intense and lightly mineral-driven medium weight flavors that possess a round and generous mid-palate but tighten up on the focused and mouth coating finish. I like this not only for its balance but also because the mouth feel is rather sophisticated. Lovely and understated....Patrick Bize told me that 2010 was "not the easiest vintage to manage as we had a poor flowering and a cool growing season where you had to be constantly vigilant. The small crop though turned out to be a blessing in disguise because without it we would have never obtained the excellent ripeness levels. Moreover, I took the risk of waiting to begin picking as we didn't start until the 27th of September. While there was basically no sorting necessary, we still only realized yields of 22 hl/ha, which isn't much. Sugars were excellent and the stems were lignified. I did a normal vinification and used 100% whole clusters for everything. I really like the vintage as it has a wonderful sense of energy."
Bright crimson. Very sharply delineated. Crisply defined but slightly hard work. (JR) 16 Points
