In 2010, the Whisky Advocate called Ardmore the "rising star in the world of single malt," and went on to explain: "Until four years ago it was little known in its own right, its main purpose being as a key malt in Teacher’s. Then Ardmore Traditional was released, and it’s been winning over drinkers ever since." (09/2010) Today, Ardmore is one of the largest distilleries in Scotland, and continues to earn accolades for its fine offerings.

This is a smoky Highland single malt. In the nose the smoke is pronounced and inviting. In the mouth the Ardmore Legacy is light to medium bodied with a round creamy mouth feel and some notes of smoke and malt to round out the flavor profile.

I love a dram of good whisky after dinner and the Legacy from Ardmore is just my style for enjoying after the meal. Beautifully light, this has just the right amount of peat to cut through and settle the stomach after a nice weekend meal. It bucks the extreme, flavor blasted trend that makes all the headlines on the whisky blogs and instead offers the graduate an effortless, subtle style to enjoy again and again. This still has plenty of flavor, but prizes balances above power. What a great value!
