Sophisticated aromas of Golden Pearmain apples, cream and pastry take the part of the first violin-chalky, resonant earth that of the sonorous cello. Their harmony and elegance together is astonishing. The crisp acidity is so well-integrated and illuminates the fruit and soil. The long finish again emphasizes absolute, uncompromising elegance of this wine. (AK)
From barley and wheat to 16 acres of vines comes Wiston Estate. This blanc de blancs has a fruity nose of baked apples. This is continued in the rich mouthfeel and further invigorated with a complex autolytic character. Rich and toasty brioche buns, butter and creamy biscuits flavours are joined by more baked apple fruit. Drinking Window 2016 - 2025 (VA)
The 2010 Blanc de Blancs has a complex bouquet: malic at first with green apples, later hints of white chocolate and white peach fruit. The palate is marked by bracing acidity but retains excellent balance. Green apples as you might predict with yellow plum and a hint of apricot, leading to a very harmonious and attractive finish. I envisage this giving several years of drinking pleasure. (NM)
Five years on the lees. More bready than the NV, perhaps even a hint of ginger but also a nice dusty/aspirin note. Intense, yeasty and full-flavoured on the palate, ripe citrus with a touch of honey. Impressive intensity and even better harmony than the NV. 17/20 points. (JH)
