No tasting note given.
Shows some hints of vanilla on the nose and palate, but there’s plenty of other stuff going on as well: brandied cherries and ginger on the nose add even more dried spices on the richly textured palate. Slowly unfolds into a long, layered finish.
The 2001 Barbaresco Bernardot offers plenty of spices and minerals on the nose, with flavors of rich ripe red fruits, anise and a mentholated note on the finish. It is a very elegant and classy wine aged for 16 months in barriques, of which 30% are new, 30% one year old, and 40% two years old. The vineyard is divided into two sections, in one part the vines are 60-65 years old and in the other part the vines are 15 years old. (AG)
Full red, deeper than the Bernadot but not brighter. Spicy red fruits, flowers and exotic spices on the nose. Tight, juicy and penetrating, with a strong mineral quality. Denser but even more backward than the Bernadot. Finishes with firm but fine tannins and excellent length. This wears its oak gracefully.
Complex aromas of fresh mushrooms and ripe plums follow through to a full-bodied palate, with well-integrated silky tannins and a rich, decadent aftertaste.
