The 2009 Pinot Noir Kiser En Haut is all rose petals, dark red cherries, spices and licorice. The wine boasts tremendous depth in a weightless style that is undeniably appealing. Layers of aromatics are woven throughout in this polished, utterly impeccable wine. There is an energy and vitality to the Kiser En Haut that is remarkable. (AG)
The 2009 Kaiser pinot noir from the upper section of the slope is also excellent and is probably the most promising of the 2009 pinots that I tasted out of barrel, as it jumps from the glass in a fine mélange of black cherries, blood orange, a touch of nutskin, fresh thyme, complex soil tones, woodsmoke and a whisper of new wood. On the palate the wine is medium-full, deep and very intensely flavored, with lovely focus and balance, excellent grip and quite modest tannins perking up the tangy and nascently complex finish. This will be a very high class example. (Drink between 2014-2030)
