An elegant, pure and appealingly layered nose blends both upper and lower register pinot fruit. The succulent, indeed even suave flavors enjoy excellent mid-palate concentration as well as fine volume on the delicious finish that is supported by well-integrated tannins. There is a touch of unabsorbed wood but I suspect that it will be rapidly incorporated. In a word, lovely.
The 2009 Pinot Noir Akiko’s Cuvee is a beautifully centered, poised wine graced with exquisite class and finesse. The aromas and flavors reveal tons of delineation and focus. Sweet black cherries, mint, minerals and spices wrap around the pointed finish. This is a fabulous Pinot from the Sonoma Coast. (AG)
This intense Pinot displays a complex mix of mineral, anise, blood orange, sage and dried dark berry flavors. This is full-bodied, with great density and structure, maintaining its focus on a long, detailed finish. (JL)
Medium red. Sexy, highly perfumed scents of wild strawberry, raspberry, cola, potpourri and allspice, with a slow-building mineral quality and a hint of white pepper. Stains the palate with sweet red berry and floral pastille flavors and picks up a subtle smoky note on the back half. Shows superb intensity without excess weight, finishing with serious persistence on a suave note of allspice. This should be singing in about three years, not that there's any crime in enjoying it now. (JR)
