The 2011 Puligny-Montrachet Les Perrières is drop-dead gorgeous. Silky, layered and exceptionally polished, the 2011 is firing on all cylinders today. The Perrières is first and foremost a wine of subtlety and nuance. This is a rare 2011 white that is going to require a few years in the cellar, and even then, it isn't likely to offer up all of its charms easily. No, this is a wine that will demand the taster's full attention. That should not be an issue, as the Perrières is utterly magnificent. (AG)
*Outstanding* Here too there is a discreet touch of wood framing the slightly more elegant aromas of citrus, pear, floral elements and wet stone. There is more evident minerality to the attractively pure and ultra-fine middle weight flavors that exhibit a distinct salinity on the balanced, complex and harmonious finish. This is really lovely and should amply reward mid-term cellaring.
Lots of sulphidic scent, almost acrid but just stays within reason. Plenty of fruit, lots of acid. Bold, impressive. 17.5/20 points. (RH)
