The 2013 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru les Referts offers enticing apple peelings, Conference pear and citrus fruit on the nose that is austere at first but it opens nicely in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp citric fruit, superb harmony and focus, gently unfolding to a tangerine and orange zest-infused finish with hints of apricot on the aftertaste. This is one of the domaine’s best wines in 2013. Outstanding. (NM)
Pale, bright yellow. Tight but sexy aromas of fresh apricot, mandarin orange and flowers. Less dense than the 2014 version but fine-grained, suave and perfumed, with sweet but taut flavors of citrus fruits and minerals. Like a smaller-scaled version of the 2014 but more harmonious in the early going. Finishes very long, with excellent underlying mineral support. (ST)
Very pale. Admirably dense without being at all sweet. Great delineation. (JR)
