Dense ruby/purple, full-bodied, rich and impressively endowed, the 2008 Zinfandel Forchini Vineyard again has been heavily acidified, but it seems to work better thanks to the wine’s concentration and fruit. It should again be drunk in its exuberant youthfulness, before the baby fat tails off. (RP)
Inky purple. Very ripe aromas of dark berries, smoke, pipe tobacco and game. Fat, musky and sweet, with very good depth and unlikely energy to its powerful flavors of boysenberry, mulberry, smoke and candied flowers. Quite broad and chewy, but not at all heavy or overtly sweet. Finishes with smooth, palate-dusting tannins and a strong echo of violet pastille. This needs bottle aging. (ST)
