*Highly Recommended* A graceful and detailed red, marked by ripe cherry, strawberry, floral and tar flavors, with the fruit intensity persisting on the finish, showing excellent length. This is well-integrated and just needs time for the tannins to soften. Best from 2018 through 2030. (BS)
Aromas of dried berry, lemon peel and plum follow through to a medium to full body, fine tannins and a bright finish. Bright and delicious. I like both the 2010 and 2011 at the same level but for different reasons. Better in 2015.
The delicious 2011 Barbaresco is a very well-integrated and balanced wine that shows an impressive level of elegance. Soft oak spice is fused with red berry fruit and balsam herb. You feel some of the heat of the vintage in the ripeness of the fruit, but those qualities never subtract from the wine's overall harmony. Soft fruit flavors are woven between tight tannins and long persistence. (ML)
The Produttori del Barbaresco's 2011 Barbaresco presents an intriguing combination of the expressive, resonant fruit typical of the vintage wedded to a firm sense of tannin. Rose petal, mint, cherry pit and chalk notes open up on the expressive bouquet and mid-palate before classic Nebbiolo tannins make their presence felt. The flavors are already a touch forward, which suggests the 2011 won't be one of the more longer-lived vintages here, but that is of course in relative terms for a house where the wines typically deliver fine drinking for several decades. This svelte Barbaresco delivers aromas and flavors of bright red cherry, crunchy strawberry, licorice and white pepper. Nervous acidity and assertive tannins provide the backbone. (KO)
