(a combination of very young and 65-year-old vines): Bright, deep red. Aromas of raspberry, wild rose, hawthorn, truffle and spices. Wonderfully light on its feet, with penetrating minerality and floral character currently overshadowing the underlying red berry flavors. This highly distinctive wine is intense, juicy and quite sophisticated, finishing with suave tannins and terrific grip. (Faiveley briefly experimented with organic farming here in 2008, 2009 and 2010 but stopped in 2011 as the wines were too reduced: the 2009, according to Hervet, had to be racked seven times!) (ST)
(a .61 ha monopole of the Domaine). A brooding and backward nose exhibits ripe and overtly sauvage aromas of dark berry fruit and freshly turned earth. The earth character continues onto the detailed and more elegant middle weight flavors that possess solid concentration before concluding in a dusty, pure and balanced finish. This will need at least a decade to realize its full potential.
This balanced red is vibrant, offering an alluring mix of pure cherry, blackberry and spice, with a texture of raw silk. Lingers with accents of spice. Best from 2017 through 2025.
