Olema is produced by the folks at Amici Cellars. Fruit was sourced from select vineyards around Sonoma County and blended with a splash of Merlot and Cabernet Franc. The wine was aged for more than a year in 30% new French oak before bottling.

Amici’s second label Cabernet Sauvignon satisfies on many levels: its Sonoma County fruit is rich and nuanced, provides ripe dark fruit, leather and anise flavors along with lush velvety tannins, and it costs less than half of its Napa Valley counterpart, making it a great accompaniment to a hearty midweek meal.

Ripping good Cab for the money. Fresh blackcurrant, briary notes, some toasty oak. The palate has good weight, richness and texture. The tannins are ripe and fine but give nice presence on the finish. I like how the rich fruit plays well with some of the leafy, green tobacco notes and says: "hey - I'm a real bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon". This has genuine varietal character that is lost in so many CA Cabs these days.

My BEST VALUE for under $20 Cab. The nose is classic Sonoma, ripe but with more complexity less cassis. On the palate the wine shows richness, layers of fruit, spice and a touch of leafy intrigue. The finish is very well balanced, long and focused showing the layers of fruit as it drifts off your tongue.

If you've been a fan of the 2013 vintage Cabernets from Napa, this is one not to miss! Olema is the second label from Amici Winery in Napa, founded by a group of friends with a mission to make great wine. The quality of the vintage and the vineyards is unmistakable here, translating into cool, dark fruit, well-balanced with excellent structure, and hints of eucalyptus. This is phenomenal quality at an everyday price for truly classic California Cabernet.

This wine is a great portrait of the excellent 2013 vintage. Well structured with a big bouquet of deep fruit and hints of fresh herbs and spices. These flavors are complimented on the palate with round tannins and balanced acid. The flavors of ripe red currents and figs are followed by wonderful earthiness and spice. It finishes with a slightly savory characteristic. Delicious, interesting and long lasting!
