A bright and aromatic red with mint, dark blueberry, and flower. Full body, firm and silky tannins; very tight and refined. A beautiful and approachable wine now but will certainly improve with age. Consistently excellent. Better in 2018.
The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve sports a black label and has more concentration and richness. This is well-balanced with sweet, well-integrated tannins, loads of crème de cassis, full-bodied and an approachability that gives it drinkability now as well as over the next 15-20 years. (RP)
This well-made wine opens in earthy compost and black licorice before unwinding a topknot of grippy tannin. Even with its power and concentration, it offers velvety mouthfeel and an expansive wave of juicy, robust acidity, particularly on the finish, making good use of smaller additions of Cab Franc, Petit Verdot, Malbec and Merlot.
