Perched upon a 17-acre in a hilltop in the famed Pauillac region, Château Pibran boasts such prestigious neighbors as Mouton-Rothschild and Pontet-Canet. The estate dates back to the start of the 20th century. Its well-drained gravel site is planted mostly to Merlot, plus Cabernet Sauvignon and a touch of Petit Verdot, making it the vineyard with perhaps the largest percentage of Merlot in Pauillac. In fact, the wine is often a near-even split of Merlot and Cabernet, giving it a unique lushness in Cab-dominated Pauillac. In 1969, the estate was still owned by Paul Pibran Billa.
