This shows loads of toasted oak and dried fruits. Full body with velvety tannins and a long and beautiful finish. The wood goes away and then just shows fine fruit.
Tar, smoke, licorice and asphalt emerge from the 2009 Barolo Giachini, one of the rare wines in this vintage that maintains all of its classic aromas, flavors and overall expressiveness. The 2009 is a bit smaller in scale than other previous years, but its balance is impeccable. Ripe, silky tannins frame the refined finish. This is a fabulous showing and a great effort for the year. Sweet floral and spice notes reappear to frame the finish. (AG)
