A notably reserved nose only grudgingly gives up whispers of green fruit and sea breeze hints. There is ample intensity and vibrancy to the utterly delicious and mineral-driven flavors that terminate in a notably dry and ever-so-mildly austere finish. This should be very good for its level.
The 2014 Petit Chablis Sur les Clos comes from vines planted by Billaud's father and is shared with Faiveley (Domaine Billaud Simon). It has a tightly wound, greengage-scented bouquet that is nicely defined. The palate has commendable energy on the entry with a crisp line of acidity and just the right amount of spiciness towards the short 'n' punchy finish. Drink this over 2 or 3 years once bottled. (RP)
from vines on the plateau above Les Clos; just finished its malolactic fermentation): Pale yellow-green. Lively if rather strict aromas of lime, grapefruit zest and mint. Juicy pink grapefruit and mint flavors are lifted by fresh acidity. Finishes with firm oyster-shell minerality and strong soil tones. Lovely flavor intensity here. (ST)
