Tasting Notes

We can tell you this much: our Kalinda private label hooks you up with awesome wine at a fraction of what you'd otherwise pay for this exact same wine under its normal label. While we have to remain quiet about the source of this beauty, we can tell you that it sells elsewhere at a much higher premium. Get it while it lasts: the 2014 Kalinda Dry Creek Valley Chardonnay is a soft yellow hue in the glass with aromas of dry hay, sweet lemon and floral notes. The palate is perfectly balanced with pear, apple and hazelnut flavors nicely mingled against good acidity and firm tannins. Excellent structure and great length along with just the right touch of oak make this a great daily drinker and an incredibly versatile wine that can be enjoyed as an apéritif or with food.

No one will tell any of us, not even to Clyde, who produced this amazingly elegant, nicely balanced Chardonnay for us, but based on its richness, structure, and viscous mouthfeel, I would speculate that it is a producer located at the very deep end of the Dry Creek Valley, the owner who use to create some wonderfully rich Chardonnays for an old, established Napa Valley winery in Saint Helena. Opulent in the nose with an apply, white peach, creamy set of qualities, these characteristics come across the palate with excellent richness and viscosity, yet with classiness and style, and finishes with a long, distinctive, well-structured finish. The Bean has ordered that I bring home several cases of this lovely Gem for our everyday house white for the next two to four years. A WONDERFUL VALUE! DON’T MISS THIS! ***** 14.5% ABV *****

Wow! This is one of the better value-driven Chardonnays we are carrying these days. Some spicy apple and toasty oak aromas. The wine is clean and elegant—easy to drink and not ponderous like many California Chardonnays. Fine acid balance and no hard edges. This is the perfect poolside sipper. Also excellent with a nice piece of halibut or swordfish. Enjoy in the next year or two.
