Another longtime standout for Williams Selyem, Allen Vineyard fruit imparts textural subtleties and a wealth of minerality and freshness. Citrus-driven in its cranberry and orange flavors, it shows depth and complexity, accented by lively thyme and clove notes. *Editors' Choice* (VB)
Pale to medium ruby-purple colored, the 2014 Pinot Noir Allen Vineyard delivers expressive spice notes of cloves, cinnamon and anise over a red currant, red cherry and lavender core. The well-structured, medium-bodied palate packs-in a great intensity of fruit, finishing with lingering mineral notes. (LPB)
The 2014 Pinot Noir Allen Vineyard is immediate, forward and juicy, all qualities that make it easy to appreciate today. Although the Allen is not the most complex of these wines, it has a certain immediacy that is highly attractive. Silky tannins and succulent fruit are the signatures. (AG)
Hailing from a particularly cool vineyard in the western reaches of the Sonoma Coast, this mildly floral look at the grape emphasizes brightness and buoyancy over ripeness and extract. It is balanced to firmness and built along comparatively leaner lines with plenty of youthful acidity lifting its slightly tangy, red cherry and plum finish. It is sleek Pinot that wants drinking with somewhat lighter fare and will round into top form with a couple years of additional age. *Two Stars*
