Made in sizable quantities, this impressive wine should please a wide range of palates in its mix of restraint and hearty structure. Thick red berry and currant dance around integrated oak and leathery tannin, building richness on the palate as it opens in the glass. (VB)
A beautiful elegance can be found in the 2013 Napa Cabernet Sauvignon, a blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot aged 20 months in one-third new French oak. This is a good value for a Napa Cabernet. The color is a healthy dark ruby purple, the wine offers up beautiful blueberry and black raspberry fruit and is suggestive of a high-class Pomerol. The oak is pushed way to the background and the wine is medium to full-bodied with supple tannins and a long finish. Drinkable now, it should continue to evolve gracefully and hopefully even improve over the next 10 to 15 years. (RP)
*One Star* As mannerly as it is deep and nicely filled, and always on a very certain varietal path with a generous complement of convincing, cassis-like fruit governing its nicely oaked, mildly creamy aromas and flavors, this attractive Cabernet does not have quite the layering or far-reaching richness of its two more-expensive mates, but it earns enthusiastic endorsement for its clarity and careful composition. It quietly asks for aging without making forceful demands for the same, and, if sure to improve over the next four to six years, it has so much come-hither charm that earlier drinking is far from being an unforgiveable sin.
A Napa Cab with ripe dark fruits on the nose as well as milk chocolate and some sage character. Balanced with fine tannins and ripe fruit character plus a medium finish.
The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley) is dark, fleshy and expressive. Dark cherry, plum, lavender, mint and cloves are all laced together. Effortless and gracious, the 2013 will drink well pretty much upon release. This is an especially delicate, lifted wine for the year. All the elements are nicely balanced throughout. (AG)
