Bright straw-green. Perfumed white flowers, quince paste and intense mineral notes give this wine an austere quality on the nose and in the mouth. Hard as nails today, but clean and very long on the finish. Although it went through full malolactic fermentation, it's still carrying 8 grams of acidity, as the wine began with what Isabelle Meyer described as an abnormally high level of malic acid. (ID)
From low yielding, 65+ years old vines on granite soils, the 2012 Riesling Grand Cru Brand is pure, cool, fresh and piquant on the nose, intermixing citrus flavors with flinty aromas. Intense, pure and mineral on the palate, this dry, austerely-firm structured wine reveals remarkable vitality, power and tension in the very long and salty finish. Very crystalline and refined, but still too discreet to evaluate its true class precisely. The 2012 Brand was fermented down to three grams of residual sugar and 12.5% alcohol. (SR)
Beautifully aromatic, with slate-tinged minerality, this creamy white is fresh and focused, offering vibrant acidity and flavors of ripe yellow plum, nectarine, star anise, honey and lemon curd. Hard to stop sipping, echoing spice and mineral details on the lasting finish. (AN)
This is very smoky and minerally. Hints of dried lemon and peach. Full body plus an incredible finish of dried pineapple and spice. Great wine.
