Fragrant honeysuckle and lemon blossom notes are effusive and add some depth to the crisp lemon flavors. A toasty note gains on the finish. (MW, Web-2016)
(barrel-fermented in 30% new oak; from a vintage featuring an early flowering and early harvest): Very pale straw. Pungent peach and pear aromas are complicated by tropical hints and a note of fresh coconut flesh and lifted by lively citrus blossom. Then almost shockingly bone-dry and refreshing in the mouth, offering grapefruit, lime and mineral flavors and a repeating suggestion of coconut. Made in a white Bordeaux style, this serious wine should remain dry and fresh while rounding out over the next three or four years. Finishes with a strong note of grapefruit pith. 90+ points. (ST)
The 2014 Sauvignon Blanc Cape Crest offers a very expressive, tropical nose with notes of guava, pineapple and green mango over cedar and dried herbs. Ripe, lush and with tons of tropical flavor on the medium-bodied palate, this is an opulent style of Sauvignon with a finish that goes on and on. 90+ points.(LPB)
Bright, pale straw-yellow colour with slight green hues, lighter on edge. The nose is intense with penetrating aromas of ripe gooseberries, greengages, limes and green stonefruits, fresh herbs and a subtle layer of nutty oak. The aromatics are youthfully fresh and tightly bound. Medium-bodied, the fruit is tight and firmly concentrated, and slender in presentation, still to unfold in richness. The flavours of green stonefruits, herbs and citrus fruits are vibrantly youthful, refreshing and steely, and the palate is slippery and racy, quite mouthwatering in flow. This has a very fine-textured line that carries to a long, brisk and crisp finish. This is bright, zesty, tightly bound and at present fruit-expressive, with subtle barrel work in the background. It will develop considerable interest over the next 5+ years. A blend of 87% Sauvignon Blanc, 10% Semillon and 3% Sauvignon Gris, hand-picked, given some skin contact and fully barrel-fermented to 13.0% alc., the wine aged 10 months in new and seasoned French oak with batonnage.
An outstanding white Bordeaux rendition, the bouquet is gloriously complex and engaging, exhibiting stone fruit, citrus, beeswax and cashew notes. The palate offers awesome weight, power and intensity, firmly structured by juicy acidity. What a gorgeous food wine. A blend of 87% sauvignon blanc, 10% Semillon and 3% sauvignon gris. At its best: now to 2024.
